South Tyrol Hotel Suggestions

Our recent experience with the Graf von Meran started out with me trying to book a reservation at the Hotel Vigiljoch at Lana. They were booked however, for the time frame which we required. We were on a mission to try to find any possible relatives of a friend of ours in the small village of Stenico, just to the south. So when the Gapp people suggested the Graf von Meran, we decided - why not!

They were not busy the evening of our stay and Paul (the night manager) released the new young waitress (she was positively charming) from her duties early and he joined us at dinner. That was a most delightful evening and our fresh trout dinners were absolutely delicious.

We have vowed to return to the area soon and would still like to stay at the Hotel Vigiljoch! Sounds like our kind of place. Several days after our stay in Merano, we stayed at the Hotel Eiger, in Muerren, Switzerland. It too, can only be reached by taking an incline and then a narrow gauge train to the village high on a plateau across from the Monch, Eiger and Joungfrau. It was great but the Vigiljoch still sounds more intriguing to us!
